What Windows Live services are available and how do they work?

To bring together your mobile and online worlds, Nokia customers can now access Windows Live services on your compatible mobile phone—including Windows Live Spaces, Messenger, Hotmail, Contacts and Live Search.

Integrated into your Nokia handset, these Windows Live services are as easy to use as sending an SMS. Check out the benefits:
• Your Windows Live contact list on your phone is synchronized with your Windows Live contacts on the web. You’ll see all your Windows Live contacts right next to your device contacts and their online status is clear at a glance.
• Windows Live Messenger has been enhanced so you can send voice clips and photos via Instant messaging (IM), express yourself with emoticons, and change your display picture to match your location.
• Windows Live Hotmail now plugs directly into your Nokia device’s e-mail client and gives you quick and easy access to your e-mail. When composing an e-mail you can also attach a photo, video, or voice recording.

Which specific Nokia devices will the services work on?

The full Windows Live suite is available on select Series 60 handsets. Currently, both Windows Live Messenger and Contacts are available for select Series 40 models. Visit nokia.com/windowslive for the current list of devices. Additional phones are being added all the time so please check back regularly

How do I get Windows Live Services on my Nokia phone?

Accessing Windows Live services will vary depending on your phone model.

For S60 model phones, visit the “Download!” folder from the main menu and click on the Windows Live Messenger icon. If you don’t see the Messenger icon in the Download! folder, select 'Options', and 'Refresh list'. Windows Live should appear after the list has been updated. For S40 model phones, access the "Messaging" from the main menu and click on the Windows Live Messenger icon. You can also add Windows Live Hotmail through the Nokia Email client in the messaging section.
After installation, simply log in using your Windows Live ID. You’ll also have to accept the terms of use when signing in the first time or when creating a new Windows Live ID. If the Windows Live application is not contained in the Download! or Messaging folders, your mobile operator is not currently supporting Windows Live for Nokia services.

In which countries will these services be available?

Go to www.Nokia.com/windowslive to see a list of countries where services are currently available. Additional countries are being added all the time so please check back often.

Which email address should I use?

Please sign in using your Windows Live email address (e.g. XXX@hotmail.com or XXX@live.com) and password. If you do not have a Windows Live ID, go to www.get.live.com on your PC to sign up, then login using your new Windows Live ID and password. You can also sign into Windows Live using the email address and password for a Microsoft Office Live account.

Can I access more than one Windows Live account from the same device?

This is NOT recommended. Accessing more than one account on your device can lead to data corruption and/or loss.

Cost

How much will the services cost?

As of February 2009, Microsoft no longer charges a premium fee for accessing Windows Live services on your Nokia phone. However, all standard data charges, roaming fees, and standard text messaging rates from your mobile operator will also apply.

Will the service work, and are there charges if I am roaming?

Yes, the Windows Live services will work while roaming. Note that wireless data roaming charges are defined on a per-country basis as charged by your home network operator. If you are travelling outside of your home network, roaming fees may apply when you use Windows Live services. Please check with your mobile operator for more information about roaming fees.

How do I synchronize my contacts and e-mail on my S60 phone?

When you sign in for the first time, your Contacts may not be arranged correctly (alphabetically). Simply sign-out, then sign back into Windows Live Messenger.
