Lights, camera, action! – Capturing videos

Just like capturing video on a handheld camera, you need to have some tricks up your sleeve when capturing on your Nokia device. It takes some practice and 30-second planning, but it isn’t all that difficult to be a mobile movie director.

Capturing indoors

If your subject is standing with the light from the windows behind him, position yourself so that your camera captures as little of the window light as possible.

Alternatively, you can wait until the outdoor light is darker. Or, use a lamp to shine light on the subject to minimize contrast.

Capturing outdoors

You are on your way to the train station when you chance upon cherubic twin brothers at a fairground. You bring out your Nokia phone and get ready to shoot the adorable-looking pair.

Before you press record, position yourself so that you get the sunlight coming over your shoulder. Your subjects will benefit from the balanced lighting, and thus they will appear just as your eyes would see them.

You wouldn't want to have the sunlight behind the subjects, as that could cast 'halos' around them.

Panning, zooming and tracking

If you absolutely have to, let yourself be guided by the reason to move. In other words, would the story call for the camera to move? Let your own eyes be the guide.

Did you know that?

Most Nokia Nseries devices have a camera/video camera button located on either side of the device for quick video capture. Read more about your mobile device’s buttons and their functions from the device’s user guide.
